Solutions to Material Scratches and Poor Leveling Performance on 2-in-1 Uncoiler Straightener
November 25, 2025
During long-term operation of a 2-in-1 Uncoiler Straightener, it is common to encounter issues such as material surface scratches or insufficient leveling quality. To help users quickly diagnose and resolve these problems, Youyi Precision provides a set of practical and effective solutions.
Material scratches typically come from two main sources:
When dust or small debris adheres to the surface of the leveling rollers, it may scratch the material as it passes through the machine.
Solution:
Stop the machine immediately
Remove the affected coil strip
Carefully clean the leveling head
Ensure all dust, debris, and residue are removed before restarting production
If the coil strip contains powder, dust, or metal shavings, it may also cause surface marks during leveling.
Solution:
When selecting a straightener, choose a model equipped with wool felt or cleaning pads for pre-cleaning
Allow the material to be wiped clean before entering the leveling rollers, effectively preventing scratches

If the coil strip is not leveled properly, the issue may involve one or more of the following factors:
Low-quality or overly soft materials cannot produce stable leveling results.
Solution:
Replace with compliant and higher-quality coil materials.
If the feeding arc is not adjusted correctly, leveling efficiency may drop.
Solution:
If the decoiler is an upper-decoiling type, change to lower-decoiling direction
If the decoiler is a lower-decoiling type, change to upper-decoiling direction
Reverse the entry arc to improve the leveling effect
When the pressure is inconsistent, the material cannot be leveled uniformly.
Solution:
Re-adjust the micrometer handwheels so that the values on both sides match precisely.
If the material does not fall within the machine’s designed capacity, leveling performance will be affected.
Solution:
Stop processing immediately and use a completely suitable leveling machine to avoid material waste or equipment damage.
Improper roller pressure settings may cause insufficient leveling or even deform the material.
Solution:
Follow the instructions in the machine manual and re-adjust based on the material exit arc to achieve the optimal leveling result.
Scratches or poor leveling performance not only waste materials but also negatively affect downstream production processes, potentially delaying the entire stamping schedule.
Therefore, once abnormalities are detected, operators should stop the line immediately, perform the necessary cleaning and adjustments, and resume production only after confirming all systems are functioning properly.
