How to Operate a 3-in-1 Feeder Machine in 4 Easy Steps?
July 26, 2025
Learn how to master the operation of a 3-in-1 decoiler straightener feeder with simple, practical instructions—perfect for beginners and professionals in metal stamping automation.
A 3-in-1 feeder machine (also known as a 3-in-1 coil feeder or 3-in-1 decoiler straightener feeder) integrates decoiling, leveling, and feeding into one compact unit. It’s widely used in high-efficiency stamping lines for automotive parts, appliances, and new energy components.
Operating such equipment may seem complicated at first, but with the following 4 easy steps, you can get started quickly and safely.
Before running the machine, begin with setting up the decoiler section:
Lift the pressing arm and lower the supporting arm.
Contract the expansion reel and raise the outer stopper arm.
Adjust the inner stopper according to coil width to align the center with the straightener’s centerline.
Use a crane or coil car (if equipped) to place the coil onto the expansion reel.
Expand the reel to secure the coil tightly.
Lower the pressing arm to hold the coil.
Adjust the side stoppers to prevent lateral movement.
Tip: Correct alignment ensures smooth feeding and prevents material deformation.
Once the coil is secured, proceed to thread and adjust the straightener feeder:
1、Open the entry gate via touchscreen to lift the threading arm and release the straightening rollers.
2、Set the guide rollers slightly wider than the material width (2–5mm) to prevent edge scratches.
3、Feed the material:
Use forward/reverse rotation to move the coil head into the threading arm.
Lower the threading arm and use coil forward mode to guide material into rollers.
4、Adjust straightening rollers:
Press the straightening rollers down firmly.
Readjust guide rollers to match coil width.
Test run to check flattening quality and adjust pressure if needed.
Ensure the material runs straight and flat before moving on.
Before starting automatic operation, conduct a manual test:
1、Switch to manual mode again.
2、Test feed functions such as jog forward, jog backward, and single stroke feed using control buttons.
3、Confirm normal movement and ensure the feed length and alignment are correct.
Manual testing helps prevent downtime and damage during production.
After a successful manual test, switch to automated production mode:
1、Change to automatic mode on the control panel.
2、Activate single-stroke safety mode on the press machine.
3、Run several strokes to confirm stable feeding and alignment.
4、Once all checks are passed, begin continuous stamping production.
Now you’re ready for efficient, automated material feeding.
Operating a 3-in-1 feeder machine doesn’t have to be difficult. By following these 4 steps—load, thread, test, and run—even new operators can manage the machine confidently and safely.
