Copper Coil Cut to Length Line: An Overview of Functions
September 28, 2025
The automatic cut to length line is a highly automated production line that integrates uncoiling, leveling, feeding, shearing, and stacking functions. It is primarily used for processing various types of metal coils, including stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, galvanized steel, aluminum sheets, and copper. Below is an introduction to the specific functions of this production line:
The material is uncoiled by the uncoiler, which is designed to carry and secure the coil. The hydraulic expansion system ensures the stability of the coil during the uncoiling process.
The uncoiler is equipped with material pressing arms and support arms. The pressing arms are used to compress the material during operation, preventing the material from unrolling, while the support arms hold the material after it’s uncoiled, making it easier to enter the leveling mechanism. A loading trolley facilitates coil loading and unloading.
The leveler straightens the coil, eliminating internal stresses in the material, achieving a flat effect to meet the requirements of subsequent processing.
The precision leveler uses a special design and is equipped with a removable top mechanism for easy cleaning. The in-and-out rollers are treated with rubber coating to prevent material scratching or marking, and a top and bottom film protection system is added to cover the leveled material, protecting the surface and improving product quality.
A servo feeder accurately feeds the leveled material into subsequent processing equipment (such as stamping machines and shears). The servo feeder uses a Mitsubishi PLC and Panasonic servo motors, ensuring high feeding precision. It feeds the material according to a set feeding length for the shearing process.

The shearing machine cuts the material to the required length based on preset measurements.
Hydraulic shears offer high cutting force and precision, ensuring clean, burr-free cutting surfaces.
The production line is equipped with a conveyor belt and stacking table to neatly stack the cut materials for further processing, improving production efficiency.
By using coils instead of individual sheet metal, material waste (from the head and tail of sheets) is reduced.
As the material has been leveled to eliminate internal stresses, it maintains good flatness, which helps reduce scrap rates.
The line can feed and cut materials simultaneously, reducing the time needed for part cutting and increasing production speed.
The fully automated production process reduces manual labor, lowering overall labor costs.
In summary, the automatic cut to length line offers various functionalities that meet the processing needs of different metal coils. It enhances production efficiency and reduces operational costs.
