How to Quickly Install a New Servo Coil Feeder on a Punch Press? | Step-by-Step Guide
December 02, 2025
When integrating a new servo coil feeder into your punch press production line, proper installation and accurate commissioning are essential to ensure stable, high-precision feeding. This guide breaks down the complete process into clear, practical steps—ideal for manufacturers upgrading or replacing their press feeding equipment.
Below, we outline the recommended installation and debugging procedures to help you put your new servo coil feeder into production as quickly and safely as possible.
On one side of the punch press table, drill and tap four screw holes according to the dimensions of the installation plate.
Secure the installation plate firmly.
Then hoist the feeder body using lifting straps and align the sliding plate with the installation plate. Use the matching bolts to fix the main feeder body to the installation plate.
If the height or horizontal position of the servo coil feeder does not align with the press tooling, adjust the sliding plate.
Loosen the two bolts on the sliding plate, fine-tune the bolts attached to the installation plate to raise or lower the feeder, and align it to the correct working height.
Once aligned, tighten all bolts securely.
Install the tooling and make sure the mold direction is perfectly perpendicular to the feeder’s rollers.
Install the release position on the press ram as required.
Select an appropriate location on the press to mount the electrical control box and proximity switch.
After installation, check whether the electrical components respond and trigger correctly.

Start the straightener or decoiler and slowly release the material strip.
Adjust the two side guide wheels according to the material width—ensuring smooth entry without interference.
Lift the release handle and insert the material between the upper and lower rollers.
Lower the release handle, loosen the thickness adjustment lock, and raise or lower the adjustment handle until the release bracket has approximately 5 mm of clearance.
Lock the adjustment screw once the gap is correct.
The pressure springs apply downward force to the upper roller.
The goal is to ensure the roller firmly grips the material without slipping.
For thicker materials, increase the pressure as needed.
After installing the feeder, set the required feeding length on the controller.
Then set the corresponding feeding speed based on the punching requirements of the production line.
Because minor deviations may occur due to mechanical tolerances, test the feeder in manual mode.
Run feeding tests, cycle the press, and confirm the actual feeding length matches the programmed value.
Fine-tune the parameters if necessary.
Proper installation and commissioning determine whether your servo coil feeder can run with stability, accuracy, and efficiency.
By following the above steps—covering mechanical installation, electrical setup, material adjustments, and parameter calibration—you can ensure your feeder enters production quickly and reliably.
